L'As Du Fallafel is no secret, but it's really as good as they say it is. From Lonely Planet correspondents to even my most cheapskate-y Parisian friends, people the world over seem to agree that this is the absolute best place to get falafel in Paris, and certainly one of the best cheap eats in town.
Part of the charm of their outer décor is how many spaces they manage to fit in a mention of how much Lenny Kravitz loves L'As Du Falafel, but this nook in the Jewish area of the Marais lives up to its hype. Their menu boasts curry chicken, schawarma and a "cocktail of meat" (hmm, don't mind if I do!) but for my money it's best to go with the dish they're famous for - the €5 falafel special. No frills, no bullshit, and very little waiting is involved in getting a taste of this amazingness:
The pita is soft and fresh, the tahini mellowly flavorful, and the falafel perfectly nutty. And don't worry, you won't go thirsty after scarfing that down. They also have €2,50 beer and Israeli fruit juices to quench your satisfied gullet.
They do have indoor seating space, but why bother when you can pick up your meal in less than five minutes and eat it on a doorstep nearby, listening to the amalgam of languages around you and trying desperately to keep tahini from dribbling down your chin?
