Right now there's a free photo exhibition going on at the city hall at place Jules-Joffrin called "Le 18e Vu Par Ses Femmes." It's all about the beautiful 18e arrondissement of Paris as seen through the eyes of its female residents.
Each set of 3 photos includes info on the photographer, her age and how long she's lived in the 18e, along with a quote about what the quartier means to her.
It's quite marvelous to see the range of areas represented, from the graffiti-laden Goutte d'Or to sexy Pigalle and romantic Montmartre.
Some of the women have lived in the area for 40 years, some for 7 months, but each has a unique perspective on her area and the beauty it holds for her.
It's worth it to go not only for the photographs, but also to see the hall de la mairie itself, and its gorgeously open, ornately decorated space, particularly beautiful in the glowing light of late afternoon.
Hurry to see this eye-opening free exhibition; it's only open until this Wednesday!
